Job Vacancy: Policy Adviser
The New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office (NZCIO), which promotes trade, economic and cultural relations with Taiwan, is seeking a policy adviser covering political and cultural matters, public affairs, and consular support.
- This position monitors media and conducts research on issues of relevance to New Zealand.
- The position supports NZCIO’s engagement with a range of domestic organisations, the arts/culture sector, and think tanks/academics, as well as helping deepen connections between indigenous peoples in New Zealand and Taiwan.
- The public affairs component of the role includes managing NZCIO’s online presence, events and cultural activities.
- The role is part of NZCIO’s consular team, providing support for New Zealanders in distress.
The position requires:
- excellent research, analysis and writing skills
- an interest in Taiwan, New Zealand and cultural exchange.
- fluent written and oral language skills (both Chinese and English), including informal interpretation skills.
- competence with Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with design and film-editing software such as Canva, and with social media analytics is desirable.
- the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders in Taiwan and New Zealand.
- life experience in New Zealand, such as residence or study, is desirable.
